For years-on-end, the notion of Suicide in the African-American community has been a source of tension and stigma. It is a heavy topic to address, but nevertheless, as a community we can gain awareness and learn how/when to be a resource to those who really need our help. This workshop is designed to raise awareness about Suicide and educate individuals on how to take a community approach toward preventative actions.
Dr. Dimitri Mills from VTAS Healthcare will also give a presentation on understanding and comforting grieving children. This is an excellent opportunity for parents to gain helpful tips on how to support their grieving child(ren) during the time of loss.
